Hi! My name is Miriam Andrade. I am an Interpreter. My language pair is English and Spanish. I am a member of the American Association of Interpreters in Education and a member of the Communications and Outreach Committee. On my socials I am also known as @miriaminterprets. I share informative content about our profession to shed light on all the amazing work Interpreters and Translators do. I also enjoy interviewing interpreters by doing livestreams on Instagram. I love learning from the experiences of others especially because I am new to the profession, having kind colleagues who are willing to share advice and help in any way they can has been amazing for me.
I have created this website to continue sharing my passion for interpreting. I would consider myself: creative, always eager to learn, social & hardworking! Growing up, I would always interpret for my family and I still do to this day. As my senior year of High School was coming to a close, I had to decide what kind of career I wanted to pursue. That was when I learned that something I was so used to doing was actually a profession. I instantly fell in love with the idea of being able to help others by using my abilities. Especially in situations as important as medical encounters.
Once I finished High School, I immediately started an online Medical Interpreter program . When I completed said course I started the process to become a Certified Medical Interpreter through the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters. This year, I got certified and am now a CMI-Spanish which is very exciting to say. This month I’ve worked on starting my business and reaching out to agencies. I would also like to pursue becoming a Translator in the near future so that’s my next goal!
